about

"Last year I got round to watching ‘There Will Be Blood’, and it was one of those films that left a lasting impact on me, particularly the way it draws such close parallels between religion and capitalism. Both systems have created structures of power that have so efficiently been able to control people’s entire livelihoods. Having grown up in a secular society in a primarily atheist family its interesting how I built up this view of religion as being some oppressive, controlling force, without fully recognising how I've simply place my 'faith' in other ideas, which are equally as difficult to justify. Thoughts like these are like an itch that I can't seem to get to go away."

lyrics

Tell me what you believe in
Give me all the reasons
I’m so zombified and terrified of
How we’re living
It’s funny
You do it for the money
But if I was that hungry
That’s not the shit that I’d be eating

You made a good living
You got a nice kitchen
You don’t wash your dirty dishes you
Got someone cleaning
It’s funny
You do it for the money
But if I was that hungry
I’d call your problem an addiction

I’m that
Itch
On your back
You cant scratch
Get attached
To skin
To your fat
Its a trap
Let it wrap
Round your limbs
Round your chest
Through your head
Dripping sweat
No more rules
No regrets
No repent
God is dead

I don't have faith in anything
I’m not afraid to say it
But I’m still scared of the unknown
and how I can’t explain it
What you believe and
What you do
What you perceive and
What you choose
And if I play then
I might lose
But I won’t pray
Anytime soon

And I’ll never know what it is
That burns inside me
And I’ll never know how you make
It look so easy
Do you want to see the powers that are vested in me
Call me anything you like but just don’t call me crazy

I’m that
Itch
On your back
You cant scratch
Get attached
To skin
To your fat
Its a trap
Let it wrap
Round your limbs
Round your chest
Through your head
Dripping sweat
No more rules
No regrets
No repent
God is dead

Tell me what

Tell me what, what you believe in,
You, you, you believe in x4
